PURPOSE BUILT

We Design and Develop Our Products to Meet Your Demands

We spend months collaborating with our customers to formulate and customize hydrogels that meet their unique needs. Our custom hydrogels are used in each of our halo products.

INSPIRED DESIGN

We Design Our Products to be Functional and Effective

When designing our products we focus on usability and efficacy. They need to be user friendly, while helping to save lives.

OUR HISTORY

Who is MDI?

Medical Devices, Inc. was founded in 1982. For 20 years, MDI focused on selling general medical consumables to customers across the United States. With the onset of the Gulf War, our focus shifted. We started stocking tactical medical products that helped doctors and soldiers overseas. Stories began surfacing from the war about the makeshift and improvised chest seals that were being created to treat blast injuries and penetrating chest wounds. In 2009, we finalized our solution and launched the Halo Chest Seal. The name “Halo” was deliberate, symbolizing its life-saving purpose. Our goal was to create a durable, adhesive chest seal capable of performing in extreme environments and harsh physical conditions. Halo products are intended for use in emergency situations where a penetrating chest wound is present.

Exploring the Halo Vent

CENTRAL VENT

The Central Vent Moves With Small Positive and Negative Pressure Changes

The Halo Vent utilizes a central vent that opens and closes as the patient breathes. During inhalation the vent rapidly closes, sealing the chest cavity from air exchange. During exhalation, the vent opens and allows excess pressure to escape from the chest cavity.

TEMPERATURE TESTED

The Halo Vent Remains Effective in Temperature Extremes

The Halo Vent went through numerous tests to determine the limits of our product. Data shows the Halo Vent remains effective from -30 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit or -34 to 60 degrees Celsius.

DUAL ADHESION

The Halo Vent Features Two Adhesion Mechanisms

The Halo Vent uses an outer tape edge and our custom hydrogel as bonding agents to ensure proper adherence to the patient.

IFAK’s and Flat Packs are the two different packaging sizes we offer (depending on region).

The IFAK, or Individual First Aid Kit pouch, measures 5.5″ x 7.5″ and is roughly half the size of the Flat Pack. The IFAK pouch was designed to save space. Products used in the IFAK pouch are folded in half.

The Flat pack measures 7.5″ x 10.875″, and is a response to several customer requests. These customers preferred their products not to be folded, so we designed a package to accommodate that preference. Products in the Flat pack are non-folded and lay flat in the pouch.

*Please be aware that not all pouches and products are available in all regions.

No, Halo Vents are only manufactured and sold in one size. This is the case across all of the Halo Product Lines.

Halo Vents measure 6.0625” x 8.350”, Halo Seals measure 6.0625” x 8.350”, Halo Trainers measure 6.0625” x 8.350” and Halo XLs measure 8.303” x 11.628”

*Please be aware that not all products are available in all regions.

MDI follows the ISO 13485 quality management system, which outlines specific quality control and regulatory requirements that ensure we produce and sell safe and effective medical devices.
